Evora Plus, & Evora kids Review & Giveaway!

Who wants whiter teeth, fresher breath, and  better over all oral health? I DO!
You've probably heard about probiotics for your digestive health, but have you ever considered probiotics for your dental health?

What does it do?  Evora Plus is a mini melt away mint that contains freeze dried probiotics. The probiotics are active bacteria cultures that attach themselves to teeth and gum tissue.  By doing this it disrupts harmful bacteria and promotes gum and tooth health.  A plus to this product is the fresh minty taste and the fact that it will whiten your teeth!  Unlike a mouthwash the benefits of this product last all day.  It is safe for use with veneers, braces, dentures and caps.

I contacted Evora about reviewing their product, and they generously sent me a package of the Evora Plus & Evora kids. I enjoyed using the mints and I also shared them with several of my nursing school friends, only one was not a fan, she said it tasted like vegetables LOL The others said it wasn't bad, and they liked everything that it claimed to offer.  Some people did think that it had a little different after taste too it, but over all most everyone thought it wasn't a bad product and really liked the healthy benefits, and whitening effects attached to a mint!

I personally really enjoyed using Evora Plus, and plan to continue to use it! I do believe that it made my teeth noticeably whiter, and I stayed healthy throughout the first part of cold & flu season. I prefer products that are more homeopathic as opposed to chemically manufactured.

What is Evora Kids?Evora Kids is a probiotic dental chew geared toward children 3-10 years of age. If you are a parent, you know that your child may not always brush well. There are also places that brushing and flossing just can't always reach. Evora Kids can help keep the balance of good and bad bacteria in check, which is a good thing since an over population of bad bacteria can lead to dental decay.
My kids love when I review stuff so they too were excited to try the Evora kids!  They graciously sent me a box of Evora kids wild very cherry berry to try. My children are ages 13,11,8, and 2. It is  the same for the kids, 1 tablet twice a day after you have brushed your teeth, the kids said it tasted pretty good, they didn't make any YUCK faces (lol) they actually reminded me some nights that they get one after they have brushed their teeth, that right there speaks volumes!

One thing I really love about Evora Plus and Evora kids is that they do have the probiotics in them, I do believe that probiotics encourage your good bacteria and keep you healthier! Why not add this health promoting mint to your daily regimen, it is easy and affordable!

Now where can YOU buy this mint you ask!? Well Let me answer that for you, you can purchase Evora Plus & Evora kids at GNC, Wal-greens, CVS, Rite- Aid and many other retail stores, you can also purchase it online @

Here is your chance to win  a package of Evora plus, & Evora Plus kids

Update - Life with a 2 year old in a Hip SPICCA cast

Ok So I have been MIA for a bit, a couple of months to be exact. Brianna our youngest broke her femur over Labor day weekend. She is only 2 years old, and was placed in Hip SPICCA cast. SO life was quite hectic around here having an immobilized 2 year old that needed to be kept busy, happy, and entertained for 8 weeks. We made it through though and I am happy to report that she is once again toddling about. It has been a couple of weeks since the cast came off, and in that time she has relearned how to walk, she still has a little bit of a limp, but the Dr says that as her muscles get stronger it will go away, and within a year if her femur is x-rayed, that you probably wont even be able to tell it was ever broke....

I have a list of people to thank that helped us get through all of this, as a Mom I was a complete mess for the first week or two, I was so sad for my little pumpkin, all I wanted was for her to be running around getting into things again, and I can assure you she has resumed those duties! LOL

Ill be posting my thank you list soon, it is pretty long, but for now here are some pictures to chronicle our 7 weeks in the Cast with Brianna.

Brianna watching her favorite Rock N Learn Video
Since her cast was so wide, she didnt fit in her normal carseat or

All comfy covered up in the quilt Heather made her.
Oh and then there was the Lego's!

Feeding the Seagulls down by the board walk
Going for a ride in the wagon with Aunt Kimmy ♥

It was a rough couple of weeks, but we made it through, with the help of our family, friends, and church family. A HUGE thank you to everyone, and a special thanks to Cindy Burleson @ Rock N Learn for sending us a giant care package for Brianna, we used it, and she loved it, and really I think she is smarter because of all the wonderful educational  DVD's  and goodies you sent us ♥ I thought that was a super nice thing to do, and you went above and beyond. I really thought that was a very nice thing for you to do for us :o)

Homemade fruit & Veggie wash, as seen on Dr. Oz

I was watching Dr. Oz and he was doing an expose' about cleanliness of grocery stores.  Tongue Tied
They had cameras filming people picking over the fresh produce, etc. I realize that I try to find the right green pepper, or tomato or whatever, and do my share of touching the produce. Of course, I wash it well when I get home ( and don't cough on it in the store...ewww) but I thought I'd look for a little extra help.
I found this- it's easy, inexpensive and it works.
Just wanted to mention it.

Do you want to use a fruit and vegetable wash, but are scared off by the price? Here is how to make your own at a fraction of the price:
You will need a spray bottle. Mix 1 cup of water, 1 cup of White Vinegar, 1 Tablespoon of baking soda, and 1/2 lemon (squeeze all the juice out).

The reason this works is as follows: The acetic acid in vinegar kills bacteria and helps to dissolve the wax and pesticide residues found on the skins of many fruits and vegetables.

The benefits of making your own fruit and vegetable wash are that it is cheaper than store-bought washes, cleans more effectively than water alone and is all-natural.

As with all cleaning materials store your fruit and vegetable wash out of the reach of children and ALWAYS label the contents of your spray bottles. Too many accidents happen because a bottle is not labelled and contains some poisonous substance or such.

Homestead - Blessings The Art Of Quilting - Review & Giveaway!

I was so excited to find these video's as I was surfing the net recently! I was excited to see that there were step by step instructional videos out there you can still find, on many of these things that are becoming a lost art. In this day in age less people are canning their own foods, growing their own gardens,  many people dont even know how to do basic sewing repairs, and I think it is a shame.
Franklin Springs kindly sent me the Homestead - Blessings DVD collection to review, and they were even generous enough to allow me to give away a video per review! So you can learn all of these great skills too!

I really enjoyed the DVD's because the West family are real homesteaders, if you aren't familiar with Homesteading it can be broadly defined,as a lifestyle of simple, agrarian self sufficiency. I guess maybe a bit comparable to the way the Amish live. In this day and age I love this concept! It may be easier to run to the store to pick up this or that, and food is very cheap in the United States, compared to other parts of the world, but do you really know what is in our "prepared & processed" foods? I don't know about you but being a Mother of 4 I love knowing I am serving my children a healthy meal, or that I have the ability to make them a warm quilt for those cold winter months....yeah me. Imagine that! Some people may say they don't have the time or why bother, but I honestly feel like these are wonderful life skills, that I myself want to learn, and I would love to be able to teach my own children as well!

One fun thing about the DVDs is that the ladies take turns hosting sections. For instance, one will show how to make basic bread, then someone else will take over to make pizza sticks, and so on.  It’s neat to watch them working together as a family, and yet feel like you’re getting to know them each as individuals.

Onto the 1st dvd I reviewed: The Art of Quilting

As a beginner, and being extremely intimidated by the mere thought of quilting, I was excited, and yet a little apprehensive to watch this video. I initially just sat down and watched the video all the way through the first time, and I was very at ease, and even hopeful about my ability to be able to do this! I found that it was very basic, which was WONDERFUL, because I knew nothing! I liked The West Ladies, and their personalities, I loved the way they worked peacefully together, and how kind they were to one another.  The make this DVD very easy to understand, and after watching I was not afraid to try anymore.

The second time I watched it, I paused the video many times, I had some scrap fabric laying around, enough to work with, and try out my newly acquired skills. My sewing machine isn't nearly as cool as the vintage one they used in the video, but it did work just fine! I cut out my material, and layed it out in the pattern I wanted it, then I sewed it block to block, and then sewed my pieces together. This was all so much easier than I thought it was going to be!
Here is my little patch worked piece :
Not exactly perfect, but ok for my first stab at it! LOL

Now my friend Heather also loves to quilt, the only previous experience she had was watching a 1/2 hour show on PBS, I gave her Homestead - Blessings- Art of Quilting video and she loved it, she said she picked up new techniques, and learned a lot more about quilting, and look at what she made... within 24 hours of watching the video mind you! Pretty awesome huh!
I think this is pretty impressive for a 1st time quilt!

Great Movie - Second Hand Lions

Second Hand Lions follows the comedic adventures of an introverted boy left on the doorstep of a pair of reluctant, eccentric great-uncles, whose exotic remembrances stir the boy's spirit and re-ignite the men's lives.

A boy named Walter is dropped by his mother Mae at his great-uncles' house. Later,Walter will find out his great-uncles' big secret. And rumors say that Hub & Garth, Walter's great uncles, have stolen much gold & money. (some say they stole it from Al Capone) Did they really steal that money or not?

13 year old Walter has had a hard life, with his no good floozy of a mother getting together with many equally despicable men. Before going on yet another husband-hunting trip, she drops him off at the house of his great-uncles Hub and Garth. They disappeared for quite a while in their youth, and are rumored to have acquired a great fortune, which Walter's mother hopes to get her hands on if he can ingratiate himself enough to the two cantankerous men. Though reluctant to put up with him at first, Hub and Garth grow to accept Walter, and even tell him fantastic stories of what they were up to while they went missing. When his mother returns, Walter must take charge of his own life, and decide what he's going to do with it.

Back To School - ROCK N LEARN Review & Giveaway!

Has your brain been getting lazy this summer, well it is time to get it back in shape! School is right around the corner, whether you have a little one not yet in school, or even kids heading to middle school Rock N Learn has got something for you! Rock N Learn has been so kind as to send me a few more videos to review.....AWESOME!
You can see all of Rock N Learn's items here :ROCK N LEARN

My kids honestly love these videos. especially Avery & Brianna, but the Science & Social Studies hold the older kids attention too. Honestly, as soon as I pop Rock N Learn into the DVD player Brianna comes a- runnin!

This time around I was sent:

Colors, Shapes, & Counting
Now Cindy who I have been working with at Rock N Learn said that this video was being re-made with newer graphics, but let me assure you there is nothing wrong with the graphics on this video. Brianna LOVES this video, and after the first time she watched it she had all kinds of new things she was trying to show us, including counting on her hands, & her feet! She also loved the songs that went with the counting, and she is glued to the TV when the shapes songs come on. I would highly recommend this one fir anyone who has a baby right on up to about 3 or maybe even 4. The songs are catchy too, my kids and I caught ourselves singing them later in the day LOL This is a great video!

Multiplication Rap
I  wasn't as fond of this one, as I was hoping I would be. I thought it would be a little more exciting, but it was just ok. The rap was pretty cute, and clever but kind of long. Now as far as being a learning tool, I do think this would be a great way to present the dreaded multiplication tables. My daughter who is entering 3rd grade watched it for a minute and then started dancing around.....the great thing about all the Rock N Learn videos I have viewed thus far is that they have great music. Brianna who is 21 months and Avery who is 7 start dancing around as soon as they hear the first beat (lol)

 Life Science:

I know a couple of folks who Home-school their children, and I think this would be an excellent addition to their home-school  library. This video really helps the kids understand things on their level, with some great animations. This takes the confusion out of science,  my 11 & 13 year old , as well as myself watched this together, and we were both entertained and enlightened while learning all about plants, plant cells, animal cells, ecosystems, genetic traits, and more.....There is even a website you can go to for free study materials that coincide with this video. There are special bonus sections, that help you score high on a life science test. This was a very good dvd, HIGHLY Recommended!

One of my Family's Favorite Recipes - Mexican Pizza

It isnt every day when I find a recipe everyone in the family likes, but this one right here, is a recipe I never get any complaints on, even my husband who doesn't like pizza loves this one!

-1Lb Hamburger (or you could even use left over hamburger, this recipe doesnt require much)
-Taco Seasoning
-Refrigerated Crescent rolls ( how many depends on how many pizza's and what size dish you are using, I use cookie sheets  so I use 3-4 rolls per cookie sheet)
-1 BIG can of refriend beans
-2 8oz bags of your favorite cheese (for this recipe I like to use the mexican blended cheese)
-1-2 cups of chopped lettuce *optional*
-1 cup chopped onions ( prefer the red onions)
-1-2 cups of chopped tomatoes
- jalapenos if you care to add them are completely up to you in how much you want use
-cilantro I buy a "bunch" from the store, and use 3/4 of what I have bought, but we really love the taste of  cilantro at  our  house, you can tweak it to however much you would like. Sometimes with Cialntro a little can go a long way!
-1 can of black olives
-1 lime

Prepare hamburger, make it just like you would make meat for tacos, You could use a LB. or less for this recipe.

Preheat Oven to 375 degrees

I make 2 large cookie sheet sized  pizza's, so I generally use 3-4 unrolled refrigerated crescent rolls per sheet .

1st roll the cresent rolls out on your cookie sheet, and then bake the crescent rolls until brown to make the 1st part of your pizza.

2nd after taking your crust out of the oven, let it cool for a bit, because you need to be able to spread the refried beans on your crust with out ripping it all up. *You make want to warm the beans in the microwave to make them easier to spread*, I also sometimes put just a tiny bit of salsa in with the refried beans to loosen it up and give it a little more flavor.

After the crust has cooled, and you have spread the beans, and added the seasoned hamburger, and cheese  place your pizza back in the oven for about 15 minutes at about 350 degrees. Just long enough to warm everything up and melt the cheese.
Then mix up a very quick batch  of pico de gallo: onions, tomatoes, (jalapenos if you want), cilantro, lime juice, and I add black olives too. Sometimes I add lettuce to the pizza sometimes I dont, depends on my mood, and whether or not I have some handy. P.S. At our house we love the cilantro and lime juice and use lots of it, it is DELICIOUS together, and on this pizza! After the pizza comes out of the oven I usually squeeze what is left of the  lime all over the finished pizza, and also throw some unmelted cheese on the top too!
This is what it looks like when it is done, and before your family starts chowing down!
